Wang Liansheng is a Partner at BIH LI & LEE LLP.

 

Liansheng began practice with M/s Bih Li & Lee in 2014. His area of practice consists mainly commercial and matrimonial litigation, as well as corporate advisory work.

 

As counsel, Liansheng has represented clients in appeals, applications and trials before the High Court (both Family and Civil Division), the District Court, the Family Court and the Magistrates Court. He has also been involved in matters and hearings before the Court of Appeal. Liansheng’s breadth of experience also includes assisting in matters before the Strata Titles Board as well as the Labour Court.   

 

In the arena of non-contentious work, Liansheng has vast experience in corporate, probate and conveyancing matters. Liansheng regularly advises arts companies and arts practitioners on contractual as well as intellectual property matters.

 

Liansheng is a member of the Family Law Practice Committee, as well as the Law Awareness Weeks Practice Committee of the Law Society of Singapore. Liansheng was appointed as Facilitator for the Family Law Module of the Preparatory Course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Admissions and Examinations in 2020.

 

In his free time, Liansheng volunteers with the Law Society’s Community Legal Clinic programme and the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme, as well as gives talks at schools, community centres and non-profit organisations.

 

As an avid arts supporter, Liansheng is also a playwright and arts practitioner, who has presented works with the Singapore Arts Festival, NUS Arts Festival, Institute of Technical Education and the Esplanade Studios RAW season. Liansheng presently serves as the Chairman of the Board of The Theatre Practice Limited, Singapore’s longest standing professional bilingual theatre institution. The Theatre Practice Limited is a not-for-profit, IPC-status charity.

Case Highlights

Assisted in a matter where the firm acted for a wife in the divorce and ancillary matters and successfully argued for adverse inference to be drawn against the husband

Acted for the Defendants in the matter where counsel successfully argued against the imposition of costs on an indemnity basis against the Defendants

Assisted in a matter where the firm acted for the successful party in a Court of Appeal matter which, among others, developed the law as regards the doctrine of unconscionability in trust arrangements

Assisted in a matter where the firm acted for the successful party in an application to the High Court for a determination on a question of law, which, among others, clarified the law as regards whether the Copyright Tribunal had the power to grant retrospective orders
