Vanessa Ng 

Associate

Vanessa is an associate in the firm’s Litigation & Disputes practice group. 

 

She specialises primarily in contentious civil and commercial litigation matters, including employment-related disputes and review and/or advisory works on commercial contracts. In addition, she also has experience in arbitration.

 

Clients appreciate Vanessa for her prompt response in relation to their queries and concerns raised and at the same time, the perspective and knowledge that she brings. 

 

Not only does Vanessa have experience in helping clients achieve an expeditious and cost-effective resolution through mediation and/or private settlement, she also has successfully represented clients with applications and trials before the General Division of the High Court, the State Courts and the Family Courts. She has been involved in cases before the Court of Three Supreme Court Judges.  

 

EXPERIENCE

Some of the matters Vanessa has been involved in include the following:

  • Ok Tedi Fly River Development Foundation Ltd and others v Ok Tedi Mining Ltd and others [2023] 3 SLR 155, representing the plaintiffs who were representatives of the members of certain communities in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea who had been adversely affected by the environmental damage caused by one of the defendant’s mining activities and successfully defended in part the Defendant’s striking out application. 

  • Super Sea Cable Networks Pte Ltd v PT Super Sistem Ultima [2022] SGDC 264, successfully obtaining an extension of time to comply with the terms of a consent order recorded pursuant to an agreement reached between parties. One of the issues to be determined by the Court is whether the Court has residual discretion not to enforce a consent order.  

  • Neverland Investment Holdings Pte Ltd v P.T Pte Ltd and others [2023] SGHC 15, successfully obtaining conditional leave to defend the action and significantly reducing the amount of security payable by the client on appeal.  

  • Acting as lead counsel in a bankruptcy application and successfully obtaining a bankruptcy order against the debtor for debts totalling close to S$1 million dollars. 

  • Representing clients in respect of debt recovery matters, including the applications for enforcement of judgment against the debtors.

  • Representing a client and successfully obtaining summary judgment and enforcement order against the tenant / occupier of the leased premises, plus the recovery of possession of the premises. 

MEMBERSHIPS & APPOINTMENTS

Vanessa is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law. She is also a member of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
